Gyrotonic® Saturday’s 8:45am with Alwyn McCormick. In the last few months, GYROTONIC® exercise is making headlines with celebrities like Lady Gaga, tennis superstar Andy Murray, former NBA legend Shaquile O’Neil and former NFL star Charles Tillman leading the charge. At philosofit in East Hampton, we offer the most extensive Gyrotonic® and Gyrokinesis® programs in the Hamptons.

Gyrokinesis® is the original ‘off the machine’ or mat work of the Gyrotonic® Expansion System®. Class is performed on a combination of low stools, mats and standing. The method’s unique movement signature is three-dimensional repetitive circling, spiraling and undulating exercises that activate the entire body.

Gyrokinesis® class feels like a dance and strengthens the nervous system and the cardiovascular system. Gyrokinesis® will challenge your core as well as your coordination.

Our philosofit Gyrotonic® program is led by Alwyn McCormick. Alwyn is a former professional dancer in both ballet and modern dance. She became certified in the Gyrotonic® Expansion System® in 2005 and Gyrokinesis® in 2008. Alwyn is also certified in specialized equipment, the Jump Stretching Board (JSB), the Gyrotoner® and the Ladder. Alwyn has also studied movement and injury prevention with Tom Myers, Eric Franklin, The Harkness Center for Dance Injuries and the Kelly Kane School. She has been trained in Reiki with Jane Stansel and is currently pursuing her Liberal Arts degree from St. Mary’s College of California.
