Ari Weller has been a highly sought after private fitness trainer since 1996 when he began his career in fitness. Ari’s personal fitness philosophy and methodology evolved out of traditional bodybuilding.

Through years of experience, he has come to realize that training the body in ‘parts’ neglects to address the interrelated relationships between all body parts and physiological systems. Ari has established himself as an industry leader when developing maximum fitness with minimum wear and tear.

Over his 20-year career Ari’s passion for constant learning has furthered his wisdom and guided him to constantly become better at assessing and screening movement, understanding bodily dysfunction and creating intelligent training programming for his clients.

Susan has been teaching Pilates for 30 years. She received her training from Romana Kryzanowska (protégé of Joseph Pilates) @ SUNY Purchase, where she received her B.F.A. in dance. Along with a career in dance, she taught Pilates alongside Romana then went on to create Power Pilates.

She was co-creator/owner of Power Pilates 1997-2013. During that time Susan certified over 12,000 instructors worldwide, programed Pilates/Wellness conferences worldwide, as well as produced & directed all Power Pilates online workouts and education programs. Power Pilates grew to include 10 studios in NYC, CA, and Chicago(2 independent Power Pilates studios; 8 Power Pilates studios at Equinox).

Susan is a teacher of teachers, teacher of clients, and loves to work with children. She is always inspired by those she teaches and will forever be a student of movement. Her philosophy being; movement heals and should always bring a smile to your heart and soul!

Keith is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). After earning his bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from SUNY Cortland Keith completed an internship at the prestigious Athletes’ Performance (now EXOS) Center in Arizona where he had the opportunity to work with athletes in the NFL, MLB, NHL, WPGA, and many other sports. He then went on to work as a D1 Strength and Conditioning Coach before returning to the Hampton’s where he grew up and joining the Philosofit team.

Keith’s passion for learning about the human body has pushed him to take countless courses and seminars over the years, some of those include:

  • Neurokinetic Therapy (NKT) level 1&2
  • Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA)
  • Post Rehab Essentials, and many more

Tom Cohill is the consummate athletic coach and practitioner. He serves as the East Hampton YMCA, Aquatics Director, and coach of the YMCA Hurricanes Swim team. For the last 10 years he has been developing the Hurricanes into a very competitive team and for the 2013/2014 season they took home the honor of 3rd best youth swim team in the state of New York.

Tom fell in love with helping people to achieve their athletic goals as a personal trainer at Equinox Fitness in New York, during which time he also put himself through college with his work as a trainer. His love of training also motivates him to compete in triathlons, including at least one Ironman.

Tom is stoked to be a part of the integrative approach and team at Philosofit.

Marcus Edwards is a certified personal trainer through the American Council on Exercise (ACE). He is also certified in FMS (Functional Movement Screen). He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Babson College located in Massachusetts.

Marcus’ passion for fitness and physical development began as a collegiate basketball player. He learned the importance of movement in sports, adopted a more functional training method and through training was able to move better. After college, he became interested in coaching and began arranging basketball lessons for the local youth. He is currently the East Hampton Varsity Boys Basketball Assistant Coach. Marcus strongly believes his purpose is to help individuals meet their goals and live more fulfilling lives.

Alissa Smith is an ACE certified personal trainer and a Kripalu trained yoga instructor. She holds certifications in the Functional Movement System, AFAA Group Fitness and Mat Pilates. She is an open-water lifeguard specializing in water fitness and aerobics.

Alissa began her personal training career at Equinox in Brooklyn Heights. She then added yoga and sharing the importance of a mind-body connection. She loves being a supportive and motivating trainer. Alissa is excited to be back home in the Hamptons and a part of the Philosofit team.


Full Bio

Alwyn is originally from Lake Arrowhead, California. She was a professional dancer and performed throughout the United States and Europe. Alwyn began studying GYROTONIC® in 2000 in New York City, and became a certified in the GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM® in 2005 and GYROKINESIS® in 2008. Alwyn is certified in GYROTONIC® specialized equipment, the Jumping Stretching Board, the Gyrotoner and the Ladder. Alwyn trained with Susan Moran Sheehy for her Pilates Mat certification and additionally has studied movement and injury prevention with Tom Myers, Eric Franklin, The Harkness Center for Dance Injuries and the Kelly Kane School. She has been trained in Reiki with Jane Stansel and is currently pursuing her Liberal Arts degree from St. Mary’s College of California.

Michelle started her career as a psychotherapist and quickly realized how important it was to integrate the body with the mind. Therefore she has added the following skills to be able to assist others:

  • Reiki Practitioner

Her love of learning and helping others fuels her desire to continue growing as a practitioner of wellness.

Originally from the Midwest Kate was a competitive gymnast and after attending Akron University as a dance major, she studied classical ballet with Maggie Black and acting in New York City. She later obtained her License as a Massage Therapist from the Swedish Institute of Massage in New York City and had a successful massage therapy practice for 20 years.

Her pursuit of mind body wellness modalities led her to become a Reiki Master, Hatha Yoga Instructor, Access Bars Practitioner, and Law of Attraction Life Coach.

Interest in the benefits of ancient practices moved her to study Qigong with Master Ou Wen Wei in 2011 and become a certified Pangu Shengong Moving Form Instructor in 2014.

She is excited to share this ancient form of movement which cultivates and enhance a persons life force energy.
